A Travel Guide to Madrid

Visit the capital and largest city in Spain.  Madrid is popular with tourists for its cultural and artistic heritage, as well as its night life.  Located in the geographical center of the Iberian Peninsula, in the middle of the Spanish central Castilian plateau, Madrid is an easy location to reach from other cities in Spain by Madrid car hire, train, or plane.

Madrid is one of the biggest and most cosmopolitan cities in Europe. Communities of Africans, other europeans, Chinese, Indians, Filipinos, Pakistanis, and Latin Americans are can be found here.  Since Madrid is so large it is easier to break down the things to do by its neighborhoods.  Most of the main historical or architectural tourist sites are located right in the city center, but if you plan on a car hire in Madrid you will see there is a lot more to do and see around the city.

Barrio de las Letras / Huertas

This neighborhood has been home to many of Spain's most famous writers.  It is among Lavapies, Puerta del Sol, and Paseo del Prado.  Here you can see many interesting and historical buildings as well as visit great bars, pubs, restaurants or find a hotel.  Its Plaza de Santa Ana is a particularly beautiful square.

La Latina

Located near Lavapies, this is the place to go for traditional tapas and stylish bars.  On Cava Bahja and Cuchilleros you can find multiple bars serving fantastic tapas.

Golden Museum Triangle

Take your car hire Madrid over to the Paseo de Prado to catch three fantastic art museums in one pace.  The Museo del Prado, Reina Sofia National Museum and Art Center, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum of Art.
